Dr. Ellis’Bio

 
 

Dr. Ellis has been an educator for over 13 years. She graduated from Harris Stowe State University with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. She then went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Administration from Lindenwood University, then her Educational Doctorate from Maryville University.

Her career began as an Elementary Classroom teacher in the Ritenour School district. She then went on to be a high school administrator at DeSmet Jesuit High School where she worked to help students from diverse backgrounds acclimate to the high school learning environment. Dr. Ellis then went on to become an administrator and professor in higher education at Harris-Stowe State University. At Harris-Stowe she prepared pre-service teachers for a career in education and developed programs to help address the shortage of teachers of color in schools.

Throughout her career, Dr. Ellis’ focus has been working to achieve equity in education. She has advocated for students and their families during her time in the school system. With her company Equitable-Ed, she is committed to teaching educators how to close the opportunity gap through equity training and Anti-Racist Anti-Bias professional development.
